Ideas have consequences.
We live in a day and age in a fierce war of ideas and the constant clashing of competing worldviews. At a time when the church needs to be equipped more than ever to counter the intellectual assaults from other worldviews, it has drifted into a state of intellectual indifference, proudly wearing irrationalism and nonsense like a badge on its sleeve. The church has given up on developing a mature intellect in one’s life to biblically defend the faith. The church’s greatest defense against opposition is to hide in a corner and close its ears. Because of this ever-increasing crisis, Equipping the Mind has been created to serve as a Christian think tank in the area of apologetics, philosophy, and epistemology, with the goal of equipping fellow Christians to think biblically, logically, and critically.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us,
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
We hold the Holy Scriptures as our ultimate presuppositional standard and epistemological starting point. This verse is the reason behind the name Equipping the Mind because only Scripture can rightly guide and equip us. All other worldviews and philosophical systems of thought that appeal to any other final standard than the Bible itself lead to self-destructing irrationalism in the end because they can neither provide nor account for the preconditions of intelligible experience, logic, mathematics, morals, and the uniformity of nature.
In a time where Truth is at stake, we are here to contend earnestly for the faith that was once for all delivered to us (Jude 3) and wage war with our minds, destroying any thought or speculation raised against the knowledge of God, and taking it captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5).
